The Story

It is 10 years after Episode I, and the Republic is in trouble. A Separatist Movement lead by former Jedi Count Dooku already consists of thousands of planets, and the Republic could be teared apart. The Senate is discussing the formation of an Army of the Republic.

Padmé Amidala - now senator of Naboo - is on a mission to prevent this when an attempt to assassinate her fails. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker are ordered to protect her, and just manage to save her from another attempt. Before they can question the Bounty Hunter, she is killed by Jango Fett.

Anakin and Padmé are sent to Naboo to protect her from further attempts on her life, and Obi-Wan is following the trail of Jango Fett to the waterworld of Kamino where he discovers a clone-army is being trained.

The "Original" is Jango Fett, and the army allegedly ordered by the Jedi themselves. Part of Jango Fett's payment for his genes is an unaltered clone - Boba Fett.

Obi-Wan follows Jango to Geonosis and finds out that Count Dooku is behind the separatist movement, the attempts on Padmé's life - and Dooku is a Dark Jedi now. He can send a message to Anakin before he is captured.

Meanwhile, Anakin and Padmé have gone to Tattooine, where Anakin tries to save Shmi, his mother, from the Tusken Raiders. He comes too late - his mother dies in his arms, and in his rage, Anakin kills the whole Tusken tribe - a further step to the Dark Side.

Anakin and Padmé race to rescue Obi-Wan as they fear the Jedi will be too late, and they are captured as well. The three of them shall be killed in an Arena on Geonosis.

While Yoda goes to Kamino to investigate the clone army, the other Jedi follow Obi-Wan to Geonosis to save him.

The Jedi are outnumbered by an army of droids, and saved in the last second by Yoda arriving with the clone army.

Obi-Wan and Anakin try to stop Count Dooku, but he beats them both in a lightsaber duel, and Anakin is losing a hand - just like Luke Skywalker will lose a hand in a fight against Anakin later in "The Empire Strikes Back".

Yoda arrives and he is a match for Count Dooku, but he has to save Obi-Wan and Anakin, and Dooku escapes.

Palpatine tricks Jar Jar Binks - who represents Naboo while Padmé Amidala is absent - into supporting the formation of a republican army .... and the clones are already there.

The Clone Wars have just started ....
